Eight places in the city searched
National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials raided eight places in Coimbatore on Wednesday in connection with suspected links to the recent bomb blasts in Sri Lanka, officials said.
The agency had also questioned the suspects six months ago over the murder case of C Sasikumar, a Coimbatore-based spokesperson of fringe saffron outfit, Indu Munnani.
They carried out searches at the houses of Saddam, Akbar, Asam, Jintha, Azar, Siddique, Abu Bakar and Idhayathullah in Ukkadam, Kuniyamuthoor and Podanur in Coimbatore.
NIA sleuths have seized computers and mobile devices as they searched for fundamentalist ideology.
Officials said these suspects would be taken further for the investigation at the Coimbatore Commissioner’s office .
The search began after NIA officials reached the city this morning at 6 am.
